Spring has a way of slowing us down and drawing our attention back to what matters.
As the season unfolds, so do we, we start to come out of the January blues, feel more revitalised and we become more aware of pure love, whether it be for nature or another person, moments of gratitude, and the quiet promise of new beginnings. These are the Spring moments worth preserving and cherishing; small experiences that shape how Spring feels, and the memories we carry with us long after the season has passed.

Spring Moments Worth Preserving
Spring doesn’t arrive all at once. It unfolds slowly and quietly before exploding in a symphony of colour and birdsong.
The light changes first. Then the air. Then small signs of life begin to appear where there was once stillness. It’s a season that naturally slows us down and makes us pay attention to the changes that are taking place.
Many people look for ways to enjoy springtime more fully. Not by filling their days, but by noticing the details and being in the moment. Instead of rushing and zooming out the door, you'd get up that little earlier, you could calmly and quietly have your breakfast, whilst looking out the window, observing the fresh green leaves and feeling that something is beginning again.
These are the Spring moments worth preserving and to keep in our memories. Moments that pass quickly. Moments that shape how a season feels. Moments that can be looked back on when we need a little calm in our lives.
Spring is an emotional turning point. It draws us toward pure love, deeper gratitude, and the promise of new beginnings. When we learn how to capture spring memories, we begin to carry that feeling with us, long after the season shifts.
Pure Love That Feels Quiet and Lasting
Perhaps it's that promise of new beginnings that make it seem as if Spring has a way of highlighting pure love. The kind that lives in the everyday.
It’s found in shared routines, familiar spaces and in the calm comfort of being known and seen. This pure love doesn’t need grand gestures. It’s steady. It’s patient. It lasts. Sometimes in these cases, less is more.
As we move from the harsh, crisp Winter months, Spring thaws soften our surroundings and many of us crave connections that feels real and grounding. Small, thoughtful choices seem more meaningful than dramatic ones. A carefully chosen object, a natural element brought indoors, something that reflects care rather than excess. When I was younger I would pick wildflowers for my Mum, and I know she much preferred them to any store bought bouquets. I am planning to do the same this year, so not only will she have a lovely bunch of flowers, but I am going to use my newly found skills to preserve them so I can create a piece of art that she can treasure. Watch this space for updates.
Preserving love in something natural and lasting allows it to settle into daily life and has a similar effect to looking at a photo album full of memories everyday, but more natural. It becomes part of the home. A quiet reminder of connection - a good time that was had. A piece of meaning that doesn’t fade with time, it stays timeless.
Gratitude for Those Who Nurture Us
I don't know about you, but Spring naturally turns my attention toward gratitude. It focusses my attention on those who offer me support and guidance, whether it be family, friends, or even work colleagues.
Gratitude doesn’t need to be loud. Often, it’s most powerful when it’s quiet and intentional. A little thank you note hidden in the fridge for someone to find to show how grateful we are to them can hold more weight than a bunch of flowers from a petrol station.
When gratitude is preserved in something lasting, it becomes a reminder rather than a moment. That little note you found in the fridge when framed becomes a keepsake that carries the emotions you felt forward. A way of saying “I see you” again and again. As well as keeping the memories alive for you.

New Beginnings and Reinvigorated Hope
Spring has always symbolised new beginnings. Light returns and creativity stirs. There’s a quiet sense that it’s time to begin again. Not urgently, just subtly. As the birds start building their nests, we get the urge to 'spring clean', whether it be our homes or our lives.
Spring can feel so fleeting; blossoms fall, leaves change. Moments can pass before we realise their significance. It's important that we take the time to capture these memories before they are gone.
New beginnings often arrive softly. Through renewed inspiration. Through creative energy. Through the simple joy of bringing nature into the home.
For me, preserving spring leaves and natural elements honours that transition. It allows the beauty of change to be held in suspension, a moment in time captured for all time. To make something temporary feel lasting. To remember that growth does not need to rush to be meaningful.
Lastly. One Thoughtful Piece. Many Spring Meanings.
Spring holds many emotions at once.
Love, gratitude and new beginnings.
One thoughtfully chosen piece can carry all of them. A reminder of that connection that was once there for you in real time. A symbol of appreciation and thanks. A marker of a season that matters.
At Elder Leaf, artwork is created to celebrate nature and the seasons. Nature is not replicated, it is honoured and preserved. Each leaf is real, hand collected and pressed in my own studio. The artwork on each piece is one of a kind. Each one carries its own story.
If you’re drawn to meaningful, sustainable ways to capture spring memories and enjoy spring time more mindfully, you may enjoy exploring my spring leaf artworks.
